During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. A real-time procedure was executed on Nov 20 to momentarily enable and then disable the ACIS detector housing heater. This benign sequence of commands was done to demonstrate a procedure which will be used again later to validate ACIS team operations at the new Operations Control Center. Of note this week was the announcement of a new Chandra Proposal System (CPS) which will be used by Chandra General Observers for the first time in Cycle 21. The CPS was designed to address many of the limitations of the older Remote Proposal System while retaining a workflow that should feel familiar to experienced users. The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below. |
