A real-time procedure was executed on Jul 13 to uplink a patch to the on-board computer (OBC) Sun Position Monitor to allow operating in a continuous enabled state. Additional real-time procedures were executed on Jul 13-14 to dump OBC-A and -B memory as a follow-up to the patch. The dump will be used to update the baseline memory images maintained on the ground. Another real-time procedure was executed on Jul 17 to uplink a patch to the OBC Momentum Monitor K Constants to increase the tolerance to gyro glitches. Real-time procedures were executed during each ground contact to reset the DSN Outage Dead Man Load. A Chandra press release was issued on Jul 15 describing observations of the Chandra Deep Field-South (CDFS). Using data from several telescopes including NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, and the Hubble and Spitzer Space Telescopes, astronomers have discovered 28 growing supermassive black holes in the CDFS that had been previously identified as low-luminosity Active Galactic Nuclei. Instead, these objects are obscured in a shroud of dust and gas. This discovery has important implications for understanding how supermassive black holes grow and evolve over billions of years. For details see: https://chandra.harvard.edu/press/20_releases/press_071520.html Of note this week was the release of CIAO 4.12.1 including a new version of Sherpa (Sherpa 4.12.1). This Sherpa release provides fixes to bugs that would stop an analysis session or provide incorrect results. For details see: https://github.com/sherpa/sherpa/releases/tag/4.12.1 The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of RBS 797 coordinated with HST and an observation of SN2012au, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time Target of Opportunity on Jun 30. |
