During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. Real-time procedures were executed during each ground contact to reset the DSN Outage Dead Man Load. Following the return to service on Sep 7 of the High Resolution Camera (HRC) anti-coincidence shield, which serves as primary autonomous radiation monitor for safing of the science instruments and had been turned off since the HRC anomaly of Aug 24, and with additional operational precautions in place, science observations with the ACIS instrument began as scheduled on Sep 12 and are proceeding nominally. The Chandra science instrument and engineering teams continue to analyze the HRC anomaly and are working to return the camera to normal science operations. The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of AT2019wey, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time Target of Opportunity on Sep 12. |
