During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
A real-time procedure was completed on Feb 16 to perform a manual unload of momentum. The unload was performed at an attitude that ensured a cool starting temperature and thruster performance was nominal throughout the unload. A Chandra press release was issued on Feb 18 as a NASA HQ Space Science update. The SSU described observations from Chandra, XMM and ROSAT that provide the first strong evidence of the destruction of a star by a supermassive black hole. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2004/rxj1242/ The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of IRAS 13349+2438 coordinated with HST. |
