| During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
The results from the 2008 Senior Review were released on May 14 and Chandra placed second out of ten in the rankings with a numerical score of 9.1 out of 10. The panel recommended funding the program at the in-guide level. Given the tight budget environment and the range of mission sizes under review coupled with the requirement to rank on a science per dollar basis, this is an excellent result. A real-time procedure was completed on May 14 to update the on-board Ephemeris. A Chandra press release was issued on May 14 as a media telecon. The release announced that the most recent supernova in our Galaxy, G1.9+0.3, has been discovered by tracking the rapid expansion of its remains. This result, using Chandra and the VLA, has implications for understanding how often supernovas explode in the Milky Way galaxy.
