Operations CXO Status Report

Wednesday 8 December 1999 8.00am EST

During the last 48 hours, Chandra completed observations of RX J1159+5531 with ACIS-I, a long observation of the Lockman Hole with HRC-I and passed through the radiation belts with the associated ACIS CTI measurements.

Final preparations are being made for the uplink and testing on-orbit of the SI Safing software patch. The patch will ensure that in the event of a safing action by the spacecraft, the Science Instruments will be placed in a safe configuration for high radiation environments. The uplink and test is scheduled for 2pm Monday Dec 13.

During the next 48 hours Chandra will perform a series of calibration observations of Ar-Lac with HRC-I, observations of NGC 1068 with HRC-S [ACIS-S; rjb], RXJ0439.0+0715 with ACIS-I, and BAL 0256-0119, NGC 1138 and NGC 7618 with ACIS-S.

The spacecraft subsystems continued to operate nominally.
