During the last week, Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. This was a welcome change after last month's five schedule interruptions due to high solar activity.
Of note last week was a press release issued on May 7 on a result that shows a flaring black hole source has an accretion disk that stops much farther out than predicted. The Chandra data were taken simultaneously with data from Hubble, EUVE and RXTE. See http://chandra.harvard.edu/press/01_releases/press_050701.html for full details. The planned observations for the coming week are shown below and includes 21 calibration observations of the RS CVn star AR Lac. The data will be used to map variations in the gain map of the HRC detector. |
