Friday 15 June 2001 10.30am EDT
During the last week, Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.
Real-time procedures were run on June 13, 14 and 15 to insert and retract the LETG and all completed nominally. Of note last week was an article in the June 8 New York Times describing the first halo of X-ray emission from a group of young stars. A number of people have expressed interest in the recent release of a book about the building of AXAF/Chandra. The book is called "Revealing the universe: The Making of the Chandra X-ray Observatory" by Wallace and Karen Tucker. Preparations are near completion for the Cycle 3 Chandra Peer Review scheduled to be held next week, June 18-20. The planned observations for the coming week are shown below. |
