| During the last week the observing schedule was replanned to include an observation of the Bl Lac object Mkn 421 that was accepted as a 3 day turn-around Target Of Opportunity (TOO) on 23 October. The TOO was triggered when the object was detected in a high X-ray state by the ASM of RXTE. The schedule was replanned to include the 96ks observation with ACIS-S/LETG and the impacted observations of MACS-J2214.9-1359, MACS-J2129.4-0741, G21.5-0.9 and MACSJ2228.5+2036 will rescheduled in a later load.
Of note last week was the conduct of the final tests on 22 October to demonstrate star acquisition at 10 degrees from the bright Earth limb (the current limitation is 20 degrees). The tests were run from the daily load, and the results indicate nominal performance of the aspect camera. The Chandra cycle 5 Education and Public outreach proposal peer review was held at SAO on 23 October. Reviews for prior cycles have been organized from HQ. A Chandra press release was issued on 23 October that describes observations that challenge an alternative theory of gravity that eliminates the need for dark matter.
