Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 1 November 2002 7.00am EST

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

Approval was given for the configuration for passage of the 2002 Leonids meteor shower on Nov 19. The shower will be double peaked and based on the predicted flux levels Chandra will be pointed in the anti-radiant direction and not performing science observations. The solar arrays with be offset by 2 degrees to minimize the possibility of damage to them. Restrictions on the pointing direction will be applied during for at least 5 hours prior to and 5 hours following the peaks of the shower.

The observing schedule for next week is shown below and includes and a TOO observation of the target V4743 Sgr.
