During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
A failure of the T1 network link between the OCC and JPL/DSN on Jun 4 resulted in two missed passes and a roll-over to the B-side SSR. Communication was restored and all data successfully dumped before the B-side recorder filled. Real-time data were acquired by DSN during each of the missed passes and transferred to the OCC via a separate slow-speed link so state of health could be assessed. A real-time procedure was executed on Jun 3 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer. A Chandra image release was issued on Jun 2 of the mixed morphology supernova remnant, W28. The composite image shows particles that have been superheated in X-rays and an inner region enclosed by shell structure detected in radio emission. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2008/w28/ The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of CH Cyg coordinated with HST and NRAO radio telescopes. |
