During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
A Chandra image release was issued on 24 Nov of the galaxy M101. The image is one of the longest exposures ever obtained of a spiral galaxy in X-rays, and will allow astronomers to establish a detailed X-ray profile of a galaxy similar to our own Milky Way. For further details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/phot/2008/m101/ The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes observations of NGC 1068 coordinated with the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA). |
