| During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.
Chandra passed through the third, fourth, and fifth eclipses of the 2010 summer season on May 14, 17, and 19respectively, with nominal power and thermal performance. A real-time procedure was executed on May 20 to patch the flight software. The patch was to a stored command sequence (SCS), which will autonomously monitor for momentum unloads. If one is detected, the SCS will terminate it after 400 seconds and then ensure that no subsequent unloads take place within the next hour, thereby allowing thruster valve temperatures to cool. This patch is to minimize the time that the MUPS thruster might be operating under thermal-choking conditions. The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of NGC 5408 X-1 coordinated with HST. |
