During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.
A real-time procedure was completed on Aug 27 to update the on-board ephemeris. A second real-time procedure was executed on Sep 1 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer. A Chandra image release was issued on Aug 30 of the northern part of the galaxy cluster Abell 1758. The composite image of X-ray data from Chandra, radio data from the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope, and optical data from the Digitized Sky Survey shows the effect of a collision between two small galaxy clusters. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2010/a1758/ The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of ESO 243-49 HLX-1 that was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time TOO on Sep 1, an observation of 1H0707-495 coordinated with XMM, and an observation of NGC 5408 X-1 coordinated with HST. |
