During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as
planned.
Of note this week was the approval by the Flight Director's Board of the relaxation of a recently instituted Mission Planning Guideline to disallow observations at sun pitch angles greater than 150 degrees. This constraint was put in place due to the recent concern with certain propulsion line temperatures reaching the freezing point of the spacecraft's hydrazine fuel. The decision to relax the constraint came after a detailed analysis of the margin needed to insure that the lines will never freeze. The new constraint disallows observations past 168 degrees sun pitch. The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes a series of calibration observations of the oxygen rich supernova remnant, E0102-72. |
