During the last week the observing schedule was replanned to incorporate observations of the Crab, which were accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Mar 4. Loads for the replanned schedule were uplinked on Mar 5. Planned observations of NGC 5373 and 3C343 were impacted and will be rescheduled in future weeks. Chandra passed through the sixth, seventh, and eighth eclipses of the season on Mar 2, 5, and 8 respectively, with nominal power and thermal performance. A real-time procedure was executed on Mar 6 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer. A Chandra image release was issued on Mar 6 describing observations of 47 Tucanae, a globular cluster located about 15,000 light years away in the outskirts of the Milky Way. Data from Chandra and other X-ray telescopes were used to understand more about the interior structure of neutron stars within the cluster. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/photo/2013/47tuc/ The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of M31N 2013-01b, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time TOO on Mar 1, an observation of Swift J1753.7-2544, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Mar 7, and observation of the Crab, which is part of the TOO accepted on Mar 4, and observations of Arp299 coordinated with NuSTAR. |
