Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 19 April 2013 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A Chandra image release was issued on Apr 17 describing observations of the remnant of SN 1006. The Chandra data provides the best map to date of the debris field including information on important elements expanding into space. SN 1006 belongs to a class of supernova used to measure the expansion of the Universe. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/photo/2013/sn1006/

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes observations of Comet 2011 L4 (PANSTARRS), which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time TOO on Mar 14, an observation of M 28, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Apr 1, an observation of 2M1314+1320 coordinated with the EVLA, an observation of the Crab coordinated with HST, and an observation of PKS2155-304 coordinated with XMM-Newton and Suzaku.
