During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. A real-time procedure was executed on Apr 2 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer. A Chandra press release was issued on Apr 2 announcing the selection of the 2014 Einstein Fellows who will conduct research related to NASA's Physics of the Cosmos (PCOS) program. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/press/14_releases/press_040214.html A Chandra press release was issued on Apr 3 as a NASA press release describing observations of the galaxy cluster ACT-CL J0102-4915, nicknamed "El Gordo" (or, "the fat one" in Spanish) because of its gigantic mass. New data from Hubble indicate El Gordo may weigh 43 percent more than the original estimate. El Gordo is the most massive, the hottest, and gives off the most X-rays of any known cluster at its distance or beyond. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/press/14_releases/press_040314.html The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes observations of Jupiter coordinated with Suzaku. |
