Q&A: Chandra Mission

Q:
I was wondering if the Hubble space telescope and the Chandra X-Ray Observatory ever look at the same objects at the same time?

A:
Yes, Hubble and Chandra will look at many of the same objects. In general, they will not look at them at the same time, because of scheduling difficulties, but on occasion they will look at the same object at the same time, if that object is expected to change rapidly. An example would be a supernova that recently exploded, or a star that was rapidly varying.
